Obituary for Lillian Golembeski

Lillian Golembeski
Lillian Maroon Golembeski, 85, passed away July 5 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Frank Golembeski. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 31, 2017.
Born in Scranton on February 25, 1933 to the late John and Josephine D’Angola Maroon. A lifelong resident of West Scranton, she was a 1950 graduate of West Scranton High School. She prided herself on being an Invader and would plan reunion luncheons for her class.
Lillian had a real zest for life and traveled often. Her favorite place was Scottsdale, AZ, to visit her adopted son, John Nieto. She loved music and to sing. She was a member of St. Lucy’s Church choir and even participated in chorus concerts with her grandchildren. You never left her house with an empty stomach because she was always cooking and trying to feed everyone. She also loved to bake, especially Italian cookies at Christmas.
Lillian was a dedicated employee of Walgreens. A very hard worker who loved her customers, she always had a smile and kind word for everyone she helped.

She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She would always know how to make everything fun for them. She was always helping them do art, sewing and baking projects. She loved party planning and knew how to throw a party. Her favorite place to be was surrounded by her family and friends.
Lillian’s family would like to thank the fifth-floor nurses and staff of the Jewish Home, along with Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care they provided.

Lillian is also survived by three daughters, Barbara Bisignani and husband Gary, Scranton, Francine Golembeski, San Diego, CA., Maria Mazzone and husband Frank, Falls; five grandchildren, Jami Cadden, Taylor, Michelle Cadden, Clarks Summit, John Cadden and wife Liz, Scranton, Nina Golden and husband Jim, Scranton, Nick Mazzone, Falls; two great grandchildren, Wilkie and Bailee Hayes; lifelong family friend, Larry Falduto; nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Golembeski; a brother, Thomas Maroon.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday from the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann’s Basilica Monastery Parish, 1250 St. Ann St. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
