Stanley Joseph Gorleski of Taylor passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 62 years is the former Civita Lia. They were married on October 22, 1955.
Born in Moosic, PA on October 8, 1933, to the parents of the late Stanley and Jean Kolodjeski Gorleski. He was a veteran of the Armed Services, proudly serving in the 11th Airborne Division, 3rd Commando Battalion as a paratrooper.
He was employed as a truck driver for Arrow Carrier of Scranton, PA for ten years and owned and operated a roofing and siding business for many years until his retirement. His passion was carpentry and he loved to build projects around the house.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diane Caruso and husband John, Taylor; Michele Lasher, Dickson City; two sons, Robert, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Anthony and wife Debbie, Taylor. There are five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He has two sisters, Lucille Phillips and husband Mark, Clark Summit; Joan Wassall, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Jean, brothers Francis and Richard, and a son Joseph.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home at 120 S. Main Avenue of Scranton, PA. Family and friends may pay their respects starting at 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.
